Sky Mountain Park, North Rim, Seven Star Open Thursday. DEADLINE Trail Delayed opening.

May 13, 2019

Sky Mountain Park, North Rim, Seven Star and Glassier Trails open Thursday May 16th.

Trails at Sky Mountain Park will reopen for the season on Thursday, but downhill-only Deadline Trail at Sky Mountain will remain closed for maintenance during the week.

DEADLINE OPEN ONLY ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY! CLOSED ON WEEKDAYS FOR RESHAPING, MAINTENANCE, AND NEW FEATURE ADDITIONS.

Reshaping of Deadline Trail began last fall, but work was suspended when it began snowing. Machinery will be in use to complete this project, which will continue until May 22 or 23.

BEWARE! New features will be added and reshaped on Deadline. PRE-RIDE/ RE-RIDE/ FREERIDE

Please observe closure signs on Deadline until they are removed.

Sky Mountain Park has been closed to human use since Dec. 1 for the protection of wildlife.

Pitkin County Open Space and Trails has consulted with Colorado Parks and Wildlife to make sure Thursday’s openings will not adversely affect elk and other wildlife that might still be on the property. CPW confirmed the openings can occur on schedule.

Please respect all closures until the trails reopen and refrain from using wet, muddy trails. Precipitation is in the forecast late this week.

Note: Government, Tom Blake, Snowmass Bike Park, etc. are still under snow and will not open until late June.
