Prince Creek/Crown BLM Trails Delayed Opening! Postponed to May 1st.

April 11, 2019


Spring 2019:

Due to high snowpack the Crown BLM/Prince Creek Trails winter closure is extended to may 1st to allow deer and elk to move to higher elevations. (original trail opening date was April 16th).

Delayed opening only applies to the Crown BLM and Prince Creek Trails above the South Porcupine trail.

Red Hill’s Elk Mountain Traverse, New Castle, and Lorax trails will open April 16th as usual.

At the request of Colorado Parks and Wildlife, winter closures for Prince Creek/Crown BLM, Williams Hill and the Hardscrabble/Spring Creek area have been extended to April 30th. These closures apply to all mechanized and motorized use however all users should consider avoiding these areas during this closure. Winter closure gates will be opened May 1st, 2019.
