Born and raised in Glenwood Springs, Devin Podbevsek is our new Seasonal Trail Crew Lead.  Joining the crew in 2025, Devin planted his mark on the valley’s trail system not only by trimming back corridor and digging drainage ditches, but also sculpting memorable trail experiences like an artist would paint a painting.

“My favorite thing on the trail crew is making features,” Devin says.  “I think that’s what sticks out to me most. it’s like the spice of the trail, like the character.”

Despite the hard work Devin and the trail crew puts in week after week, he admits much of their work goes unnoticed by the typical trail rider, but that’s what makes a good trail, he says.

“Especially if you’re riding fast,” Devin explains, “If we do drains right, people shouldn’t notice them.  I think most people just ride a trail and don’t really notice that it’s had work done to it.”

Devin said clearing the trails of deadwood is a huge task that also goes unseen and unnoticed.  As the dead wood is often pulled off the trails and out of sight.

“We come through and clear them all out and a lot of riders have no idea,” Devin said.  “It’s like, oh, this trail’s been clear for so long, this is great.”

Devin gives great credit to the members, supporters, donors and volunteers of the Roaring Fork Mountain Bike Association.

“We’re a member-driven organization, so we wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for them,” Devin states. “It’s great to be able to work and ride these trails that I love and get paid to do it, and it’s all because of them.

Devin’s dedication to the Roaring Fork trail system is exemplary and RFMBA is proud to have Devin as our new Crew Lead for the Seasonal Trail Crew.

The Seasonal Trail Crew operates four days a week, ten hours a day working tirelessly throughout our vast network of trails.  While you may never see the crew at work, you surely enjoy the benefits of their passion and expertise.
