2025 will mark Michal’s third season with RFMBA’s Seasonal Trail Crew. Michal spends the majority of his year customizing ski vacations for his clients as a Mountain Travel Expert with Ski.com, but loves getting out from behind his computer during the summer months to give back to the trail systems he uses so often.
“I love being outside” says Michal. “So it’s a great kind of change up from what I usually do, get out and use my body and smell the fresh air.
One of the perks of the job, says Michal, is going to different areas and exploring the trail system. “We’re never in the same place for more than two days in a row.”
Michal thinks most trail users probably don’t think about is the amount of care trail builders and maintenance crews put into mitigating water and erosion issues. “I don’t think people realize how the water effects the trails. We spend days building drains that will save a trail from getting cupped and rutted out.”
Michal loves biking, skiing, backpacking, floating rivers, traveling, and introducing his four year old daughter to all the above. Michal recently spent three years living in Vietnam and has traveled to many parts of the world. He believes that one of our country’s greatest and most unique attributes is our vast public lands and the large system of trails and roads that allow us access to them. Because of this, he has a strong passion for preserving these wild places and expanding/maintaining the trails that allow us to enjoy them.
Living in Glenwood Springs, Michal considers South Canyon as one of his favorite trail networks.
His message to the members and supporters of RFMBA is simple. “Thanks for the continued support!”
