Van Horn Lookout Reroute Trail Project – June 4th

June 4, 2016 @ 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

Come out and join us on June 4th, National Trails Day!
IMG_1680

Volunteer to help reconstruct this short and steep spur trail in the upper Hunter Creek Valley.  The high elevation views from this location will be sure to put a smile on your face all day!  At the end of the day, your efforts will be rewarded with delicious food and refreshing beverages (adult and regular).

You can ride your bike up to the project site, or park up in the Hunter Creek where a shuttle van can take you closer to the trail build.  For this event only, the gate will be opened, and we’ll be parking just beyond the Senior Citizen / Handicap HC trailhead parking area.  This will also be where the tent is set up for dinner at the end of the work day.

Pre-register for this project at RFOV’s website link below.  Stay tuned as we’ll announce where to park and meet up to start the day.

This project is sponsored by the National Forest Foundation. Partners on this project include: US Forest Service, Pitkin County Open Space & Trails, Aspen Parks & Outdoor Recreation and Roaring Fork Mountain Bike Association.

Remember, all of your volunteer trail efforts earn you another chance to win a brand new Yeti ASR Enduro mountain bike!  This prize is valued at $3,700 and brought to you thanks to our friends at Ute City Cycles!
