USA Pro Cycling Challenge – Aspen / Snowmass Stage 1

RFMBA will be exhibiting at the Start/Finish Expo during this year’s  2014 USA Pro Cycling Challenge Stage 1 race!  Come stop by our tent before & during the race to view concept trail maps, tell us about your favorite local trails, and join up as an annual RFMBA-IMBA member!  We’ll have swag available (hats, shirts, and socks) for new members while supplies last!

Consider taking the day off from work, or at least a few hours, to enjoy the carnival atmosphere as the pro cycling peloton takes over downtown Aspen.  Watch the action unfold on big outdoor TV’s while the racers lap out to Snowmass, and then enjoy seeing the world’s top riders and their incredible stream of support vehicles fly right past you near the Start/Finish line.   Race start time is set for 2:10pm.

Stage 1 of the 2013 race was such a success, we decided to do it again. The Aspen/Snowmass Circuit may be short on distance, but it packs a punch. At 65 miles (3 laps of nearly 22 miles each), and 2,300 ft. of climbing per lap with minimal recovery, this circuit puts the “challenge” in USA Pro Challenge. Each lap will see the riders grind up to Snowmass Village, then a quick descent leads to two short but steep climbs, and a quick loop through downtown before doing it all again. Pair that with a starting elevation of 7,900 ft. and you have one tough opening day.
