Better Living Through Trails – Presentation in New Castle – May 6, 2016

Join us for the famous IMBA Trail Care Crew’s first visit to New Castle, CO!  Jordan and Lani are traveling the country for two years, spreading knowledge and know-how on the art and science of great mountain bike trails.

Big thanks to both RFMBA’s New Castle Trails Committee & Town of New Castle for coordinating and making this event possible!  Can’t join on Friday evening?  Join in for the following day’s Trail Building School.

Better Living Through Trails will be presented on Friday, May 6, 5:30-7pm.

More trail talk & Social Hour to follow at Grove’s Black Dog Saloon (219 W. Main St.), 7-8pm.  Attend the presentation and get a complimentary frosty beverage courtesy of Grove’s BDS!

The power of mountain biking to improve your community

Overview: This presentation explores the positive relationships between communities and their trail systems. Trails as community assets can improve quality of life and livability in a community for both the biking and non-biking members, and can attract significant tourism dollars in addition in increasing overall quality of life. With statistics and case studies, participants will learn how to turn a quality community trail system into a destination trail system, and learn how to effectively market a trail system. This presentation is a great way to show the community that a club is concerned with the health of the local citizens, the health of local green spaces and the health of the local economy.

Key topics: The economic, health and wellness benefits that trails and mountain biking bring to an area; the value of singletrack trails; economics of singletrack trails; building community trails; creating destination trails; case studies.

Who should attend?: Public board members; elected officials (especially the mayor and city council); tourism bureau; chamber of commerce; media; school districts; health care professionals; local, state, and federal land managers; mayoral office; state and federal representatives, local trail users, local outdoor recreation groups.

Length: Approximately 1.5 hours with Q&A.
