Roaring Fork Mountain Bike Association (RFMBA)
Dedicated to creating and sustaining the best possible mountain bike trail system in the Roaring Fork Valley.
We’ll be building fresh singletrack trail on Thursday July 6th! The Buckhorn Traverse Extension will connect Glassier Open Space to Buckhorn, avoiding some doubletrack routes that are currently used to traverse this zone.
We recommend riding in from the new Hooks Spur Lane parking trailhead in order to ride up the Glassier OS Trail and take the doubletrack over to the project site.
Alternatively, as a longer approach, you can ride all the way from Carbondale on the Rio Grande Trail or park at Catherine’s Store and ride up Buckhorn and cut over on Buckhorn Traverse.
Whether hiking or biking to this remote project site (about 4 miles from Hooks Spur via Glassier, or 5+ from Catherine Store Rd.), wear or bring clothes and shoes that work well for hiking and digging, and don’t forget water, snacks and plenty of bug juice. Tools for trail building will already be waiting for us at the project location, so this is an ideal day to mix in some quality riding to and from the trail build session.
Refreshing beverages will be served around dusk at the Hooks Spur parking lot.
Remember, all of your volunteer trail efforts earn you another chance to win a brand new Cima RT-5! This prize is valued at $4,000 and brought to you thanks to our friends at Ute City Cycles! Remember to sign a waiver for each event in order to qualify!
