Roaring Fork Mountain Bike Association (RFMBA)
Dedicated to creating and sustaining the best possible mountain bike trail system in the Roaring Fork Valley.
The Aspen Cycling Club has a great race schedule planned for the 2016 season with 9 road and 9 mountain bike races starting on April 27th and ending with their banquet at the Limelight Hotel on September 14th. The race schedule features “classic” ACC races, new variations of some of the classics, as well as a revival of the Hospital/ Ashcroft/South Hayden race. Races are on Wednesday evenings, registration opens at 5pm, race starts at 6pm.
If you’re not a racer but want to meet other riders, consider volunteering as a marshal at one of the ACC’s Wednesday evening races. The ACC has also scheduled a volunteer trail work evening, set for July 13th. Huge thanks to the ACC and it’s members for supporting RFMBA with matching challenge grant in 2015!
The race will start on the paved Brush Creek trail just to the west of the pedestrian underpass at Highway 82. From the start, racers will ride up the bike trail paralleling Brush Creek Road to a left turn onto the Cozyline trail. Racers will climb up Cozyline, bearing to the right at the top of Airline trail, and continue on Cozyline to its intersection with the Skyline Ridge trail. Take on right on Skyline Ridge and follow to the Deadline trail. Take a left onto Deadline and descend. Please use caution while descending Deadline as it contains numerous banked turns and jumps (all of which can be rolled over with slower speeds). At the bottom of Deadline, bear right onto Highline and continue to descend. Riders will then ride Highline all the way down (bearing right again at the intersection with Lowline) until it intersects the cemetery road. Turn right onto the cemetery road and head uphill a few hundred yards to the finish line.
Location: Parking, registration, and the start line will all be located near the Intercept Lot at the intersection of Highway 82 and Brush Creek Road.
