Revised Date! Please note, due to cold/snow/rain forecast for May 6, this event is rescheduled for Monday May 20!
Love riding the South Canyon Trail System? Join us to help spread some seed & pine mulch along the new Alpine Slide Descent trail & to clean up the roadside and other trouble spots in the area. Be a part of the increasing respect and love that’s shown for South Canyon Mountain Park!
The Alpine Slide Trail was improved over recent weeks, the jumps and features are now more fun for more people! Spreading some seed along the sides of the trail will help to beautify the area and prevent future soil erosion. Yes, the landfill is nearby, so while we’ve made a great dent during past cleanup events, there’s still a bit more work to tackle each spring. Join other local volunteers to fill bags with micro-trash, and haul a few tires and other refuse into a big pile that City of Glenwood Springs staff will deliver to the landfill the next day.
Meet near the entrance road to the South Canyon Landfill (about 1 mile up from the bridge over the Colorado River). This is a short walk away from one of our focus areas, the Alpine Slide Trail.
Please bring gloves and water. We will provide the fresh seed to be spread, and trash bags. Lastly, you must review the “RFMBA Event Waiver” (linked below under ‘Related files’), and select “I Accept” on the second page of this sign-up (click “Sign Up” below and then “Save & Continue” to continue to the second page).
Pizza and libations will be provided after the work session.
Please signup for this event at this link so we have a good headcount for dinner:
