Come join us for a quick and easy, but high value trail build session! RFMBA has received approval from Pitkin County Open Space & Trails to turn a busy section of two-way trail into parallel climbing and descending trails! You probably know the location well – the “Tybar Ranch Meadow” is the sinuous section of trail that serves as both the Prince Creek Climbing Trail and the Lower Monte Carlo Trail for a couple of hundred yards near one of the ranch’s entry gates. When it’s busy, riders are already riding off the trail to avoid oncoming traffic, forming numerous braided trail sections.
If you ride the trail today, you’ll see the pin flagged future alignments. Our work – over the course of an hour or two – will create two parallel trails, letting you enjoy a safe climb, and fast flow back down to finish your ride!
We have limited volunteer spots available. Join RFMBA, and the local TNR crew, to make quick work of this project. Park at the Bullpen Trailhead, ride your bike up to the project zone, where tools will be waiting. If there’s still good daylight remaining – likely we think – ride a bit further up into the PC trail system before flowing back down to the bullpen to join us for drinks at dusk.
As usual, bring work gloves and water. Project work will start at 5:45pm, drinks at the trailhead at 7:45pm.
