The Roaring Fork Mountain Bike Association is back at it again with more improvements to the trails on the Crown SRMA! Innie is one of the oldest trails in the system but it’s been in dire need of a redesign for many years. Those who have ridden it know it’s a bit awkward but has so much potential for greatness – another amazing corner of the Crown that provides a rewarding climb, epic views, and a ripping descent on adjoining Outie (also getting a major makeover this summer!) We’re making it all more enjoyable and more sustainable for decades to come!

Join us for our seventh evening volunteer event aimed at rerouting short segments of the existing Innie climbing trail. This will be a bike-to event since Innie starts several miles out from the closest road access points. Of course, you can ride in from anywhere (including the Bull Pen Trailhead where we’ll meet for pizza and drinks at dusk!), but if you want to cut out some climbing to save energy for digging, please park at one of two locations:

Prince Creek Road, adjacent to the bottom of Christmas Tree, then ride up Christmas Tree to North Porcupine, and then up Innie, and continue beyond the intersection with Undie Trail) – 4.2 mi, 1,050ft gain – to get to the work zone.  (If you want to join the initial crew, we’ll start riding from this location at 4:30pm, will arrive at the work zone around 5:15pm, and then will be digging till about 7:45pm.)

Top of Monte Carlo (start of BLM Rd 8320), then ride South Porcupine to North Porcupine and then up Innie, and continue beyond the intersection with Undie Trail) – 5.4 mi, 850ft gain – to get to the work zone (slightly longer, but less climbing!)

For this volunteer event, we will most likely be working on segments 6 &7. (The map notes a parking spot, which may be used for future events, but for now this will remain a bike-to event).

Please bring gloves, water, a snack or two, insect repellent, and rain gear. RFMBA will provide all the digging tools. As usual, pizza and libations will be provided after the work session!

If you enjoy riding the local trails, we encourage you to become a member of RFMBA. Your support will help our trail maintenance, building and advocacy efforts. Click here to JOIN.

Thank you for volunteering for the benefit of all mountain bikers in the Valley!
