Roaring Fork Riders! Crown Royale has become overrun with Scotch thistle, an invasive species that is no fun to ride through. We need your help to manually remove this abundant plant from the trail corridor. Scotch thistle, along with other invasive species, thrives in environments where soil has recently been disturbed. As Crown Royale was built just a few seasons ago, this is why we are seeing strong thistle growth along the trail corridor.

We will be meeting at the worksite at 4pm – but please show up when you can, even if that happens to be later. Work will end around 7:15pm, leaving folks plenty of time to ride back down to the trailhead. There are 2 options for accessing the worksite:

Option 1: pedal up Glassier to Vasten, turning left onto Imperial Gardens. Pedal up until you reach “Short Circuit”, turning right onto this BLM service road notated in MTB Project. This cut off will be marked with flags! Follow this until you hit Upper Crown Royale, and ride down until you find the worksite.

Option 2: pedal up Glassier to Vasten, leaving your bike at the bottom of Upper Crown Royale. Hike uphill to the worksite along trail. Be cautious of bikers riding downhill as you hike up.

*As the drive to the worksite follows a difficult and narrow 4×4 road, we do not recommend driving personal vehicles to this volunteer event*

Please bring good leather gloves (thistle is very pokey and sharp), long sleeve shirts and pants are recommended, water and a snack or two.

Pizza and libations will be provided after the work session, at Glassier/Hooks Lane TH!

Thanks for volunteering for the benefit of all cyclists in the Valley!
