For everyone who loves bikes, and values the life-long benefits that come with time outdoors on two wheels…  And for everyone who participated in the (1) 2021 Marolt Open Space Management Plan update process that led to the inclusion of a potential ‘bike park’ on the west side of this well-loved and well-utilized city land, and (2) provided supportive comments in the public meetings and public survey during 2023 that provided more details on this proposal… Now is your chance to push this project one step closer to reality!

  1. Please Attend to show your support for this beneficial project.  Showing up makes a big difference! We suggest making your attendance more fun by riding your bike to & from the site.
  2. Using the link below, leave a comment in the “Guestbook” (login required) to share your thoughts on the project with City Council members and city staff.  Following is an adapted version of the City’s press release for Monday’s upcoming meeting:

The City of Aspen has announced an upcoming public meeting regarding the proposed Skill Trails on the Marolt/Thomas Open Space.
Aspen City Council will be meeting on-site with the Aspen Open Space and Trails Board to discuss the project on June 17th, 2024, at approximately 5:30 pm. This will be a walking meeting of the site, starting from the north end of Marolt Place, moving through the project area, and ending by the paraglider meadow.  The Council and Board will be traveling to the site after another discussion of Theater Aspen, so please understand that the start time is approximate and may vary.
This discussion aims to give site context to other development and uses, and the suitability of the project area for an amenity like the skill trails. This meeting is open to the public and all are welcome to attend. Public comment is not scheduled during this meeting. However, you can visit the project page for more information or to leave a comment under the “Guestbook” tab.  The project page can be found here:  https://www.aspencommunityvoice.com/marolt-thomas-skill-trail
Please feel free to share this with interested parties of the Marolt/Thomas Open Space and the proposed Skill Trails.
